To Be!

Evangel – Fall 2015

Shakespeare depicted Hamlet as someone plagued by nightmares and considering if death might be an option. Hamlet wonders, “To be, or not to be, that is the question.” A little later he speculates:

“To sleep, perchance to dream: ay there’s the rub; For in that sleep of death what dreams may come.” Hamlet considers that what he may face after death may not be better than the nightmares he knows.

ABC has been through some tough times; we have faced challenges. Yet, unlike Hamlet we are not considering death, nor are we haunted by nightmares! In fact the feeling and attitude around the college is one of hope as we all learn together to dream again.

For our facilities I envision a time, coming soon, where the college is a central hub in our community. ShakespeareDream with me of day camps in the summer, our sports league throughout the year, and the community using our facility even more, as we move ahead. Like most churches, we desire to be engaged in the community we are in. As students learn to do that, we anticipate them being even better prepared to engage in ministry in any community they may find themselves.

Our practical ministries move our students to engage the communities of the congregations they serve. Likewise, we seek to serve congregations, as we are needed, but not just as an opportunity to serve but to make a difference in both church and community. As students get involved and engaged in ministry where they are needed, both the students and the church as a whole will enjoy the benefits and God will be glorified.

We are in a time of dreaming and looking to the future. As we look to the future we are confidently answering Hamlet’s question…TO BE! Not only to be but also to be everything God has called us to be and to guide our students in doing the same.

We invite you to pursue with us what dreams may come!
