Ted Windmill

Evangel – Christmas 2011

The photo above is of the first meeting of the Coldstream Christian Church, which met in the home of Ted (far left) and Sheila Windmill. Ted and Sheila, who met and married in England, moved to Canada and became active in a Christian Church here.

Sometime later they decided to explore more of Canada living in Edmonton for a while before moving to Vernon. Ted was an early leader serving as an elder for several years before moving to Kelowna. There they worshipped with the Kelowna Church of Christ where Ted served as an elder until his recent death. Ted served as a trustee for Alberta Bible College for many years. Trustees will remember Ted as a quiet visionary who cared deeply for the mission of ABC, her transformational focus and the work of her graduates. In the spirit of board excellence, despite geography, Ted also was among the front line of supporters and volunteers.

One of Ted’s favorite verses in the Bible was Philippians 3:14 “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” At the recent gathering in Kelowna to honour Ted and reflect on his faith in God and contribution to the churches, several people mentioned Ted’s use of the phrase. He will be missed.
