Equipping People Who Equip People

Evangel – Fall 2016

Dr. Stan HeltonOur mission remains “Equipping People for Effective Service and Witness for Christ.” ABC has been equipping people since 1932 because of the prayers, support, and investments of people like you.

Recently I have reflected on the first part of our statement: We equip people! Over the years, we have equipped people and these people have made a difference in our lives and continue to make the world a better place. Remember Marvel, Vida, Allan, Ron, Rick, Alan, Kurt, Chris, Charlene, Lisette, and … Perhaps you recognize some of these names and could add many others. These names are important to us because at the heart of what we do is to equip people. While the process of training people requires resources and programs, the most important outcome we seek are equipped people who in turn can equip people.

And the names have not stopped. Today among our students are Zara, Christopher, Micah, Bryce, Tracey, Marcus, Rhandi, Isaac, and with the incoming class we have added Tamzen, Mark, Wendy, Denise, Daniel, Brett and more. Among our PACE students are those wanting to enhance their learning and skills in ministry, those who are second-career students seeking a different path in life, and even a few seniors who refuse to quit learning and growing. Among our regular undergraduate students are those returning to school after a few years, students who refuse to allow their physical challenges define them, and students right out of high school. All these students dream of how they might serve Jesus and his people more faithfully, more authentically, more fully.

The work of equipping people depends on ABC’s partnership with people like you. So why should you considering investing in ABC? Because in so doing, you will be equipping people…people you can know by name…people who will change our world for the better.

I welcome the opportunity to sit down and visit with you about how you can make a difference by equipping people for effective service and witness for Christ.

Equipping people who equip people,
