ABC Community,

The Board of Trustees of Alberta Bible College petitions your prayers for our President Stan Helton as he receives medical attention throughout the summer of 2024. On May 16, Stan had a PET scan that revealed the source of swollen lymph nodes as a cancer located on the back of his tongue and confirmed it is isolated to this area of his body. Surgery is scheduled on June 4 to remove the cancer. After the surgery, Stan will be receiving radiation treatments to insure the eradication of the cancer. This has been and will be a hard season for the Heltons and so we ask all to pray for Stan, Pat and the rest of the family as they seek to care for Stan.

Stan will be taking a medical leave for the surgery, recovery and then as needed for radiation treatments which will begin at the end of June. The Board is monitoring the work of the college closely and has a plan to support Stan and the administrative team as needed. We ask for your prayers as we work through this season. In everything, we trust that God “works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).

The ABC community gathered in the ABC chapel on Friday, May 3 to celebrate the academic year and the graduating class of 2024.

Festivities included worship songs led by a choir of ABC students, cake and coffee, toasts to graduates and faculty/staff, the presentation of the Delta Epsilon Chi ABHE Honor Society Award to ABC alumni member Marnie Hoetmer, and our annual student awards.

David Ford, ABC's retiring Academic Dean, concluded the evening with a benediction for the graduates. Students then presented him with several personalized gifts (and lots of hugs and kind words) as a thank you for his five years of service to the college.
